Ministry of Education Qatar Jobs | Teaching & Admin Vacancies

The Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MOEHE) is the supreme authority for education in Qatar. They directly employ thousands of teachers for the country’s independent (government) schools.

For job seekers, a Ministry job is the “Golden Ticket” for stability. Contracts are government-backed, salaries are paid on time, and housing is often provided. However, the Qatarization policy is strong here. Administrative roles (HR, Admin, Secretarial) in the Ministry are almost exclusively reserved for Qatari nationals. Expats are primarily recruited for Teaching and Specialized Technical roles.

The “MOEHE” Reality: The 3 Rules

Before applying to Government schools, you must pass these checks:

1. The “Subject Match” Rule

  • The Rule: Your Bachelor’s degree must match the subject you want to teach.
  • The Reality: If you have a degree in Engineering but want to teach Math, you might be accepted. But if you have a degree in Business and want to teach English, you will likely be rejected, even if you have a TEFL certificate. The Ministry is very strict on “Specialization.”

2. The Age Limit (The cutoff)

  • The Rule: For government schools, the Ministry generally does not hire expat teachers over the age of 50 (sometimes extended to 55 for rare specialties).
  • The Alternative: Private international schools are much more flexible and often hire experienced teachers up to age 60+.

3. The Portal Maze (Kawader vs. Tawtheef)

  • Kawader: This is exclusively for Qatari Nationals. If you are an expat, you cannot use this.
  • Tawtheef: This is the portal for Expats/Residents. You must apply here for government teaching roles.
